Emergency Solutions Grant

EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT

Through an allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Prince William County Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) provides funding to local non-profit organizations that assist homeless families and individuals in the Prince William Area.  The non-profit organizations must provide shelter and services at emergency shelters, transitional housing facilities and seasonal shelters.  Eligible activities for ESG include:

  • Rehabilitation, repair and improvements to bring existing emergency shelters, transitional housing facilities and seasonal shelters into compliance with state and local health and building codes.
  • Operation costs such as administration (including staff), maintenance, rent, utilities, insurance, supplies and furnishings for emergency shelters, transitional housing facilities and seasonal shelters.
  • The delivery of essential human services that address issues such as employment, substance abuse, education or health where such services do not duplicate or supplant existing local services.

If you are a non-profit organization that provides these type of services, and need more information regarding the program, contact Joan S. Duckett at 703-492-2300 or by e-mail [email protected].
